What is Hydrotherapy?

Hydrotherapy is the use of warm water as a therapy to aid recovery from injury and ease chronic conditions. The benefits of hydrotherapy are scientifically proven, with the reduction in stiffness and an increase in mobility and fitness leading to improved quality of life. Hydrotherapy provides a safe environment where dogs can swim in clean, heated water, which can aid muscle relaxation, provide pain relief and allow a dog to exercise in a non weight bearing environment which can ease pain and help to increase a dogs mobility.

Benefits of Hydrotherapy?

Hydrotherapy encourages a range of joint motion in reduced weight bearing conditions, improving muscle tone and tissue repair without putting undue stress on damaged tissue. During controlled swimmimg the cardiovascular stamina, muscle tone and range of movement can be improved. Hydrotherapy is particularly helpful in aiding recovery from injury and surgery and can also help with the management of obesity.

Once a dog is immobilised after injury or surgery, muscle wastage can occur within three days. Hydrotherapy can help rebuild muscles that have deteriorated.
